David Hofmann

David Hofmann was born in England, grew up mostly in Germany and moved to Los Angeles in 2003. At the age of 10 he bought his first camera that created the passion he had for the many careers he has had, He has worked in the commercial advertising and movie industry. David has worked on 13 #1 box office movies for Dreamworks Animation and Warner Brothers. His work got published worldwide in magazines, billboards and online media. After 25 years in the movie industry, he focused entirely on his photography and building the Sharkcookie brand. His work and brand has become known world wide in the dance world and beyond.

Things about David's photos that interest me the most is how perfectly he can capture the action of the dancers. He obviously uses a very high shutter speed. He also takes underwater pictures and I would love to know the equipment he uses for that. I look at his photographs frequently to inspire myself for dance, all the dancers he photographs are amazing and I would love to be able to look like the dancers do in his photographs.

creative process: 2
When I'm taking my pictures I make sure to take the picture multiple times using different angles and adjusting the settings to get the perfect photo.
technical skill: 2
I made sure to start working on the photoshop bootcamp and I made sure to watch all of the videos to learn how to use photoshop.
career readiness: 1
I tend to put things off until the last minute so therefor that would not be very good if I was doing this for a job. I will work on completing things as soon as possible in the future
design influence: 2
I haven't taken all the photos I want to take, but I have planned the types of pictures I would like to take. I plan of taking action dance photos and using inspiration from David Hofmann. Before I take my pictures I will probably look up pictures to inspire me as well.

practice Projects I want to do
For the three projects, I want to do action, food and portraits. I already have a plan of what I am going to do for action. I plan on taking my friend out who is a great dancer and taking pictures of her just dancing around and doing tricks. I will have to make sure to have a high shutter speed to capture the right moment. For food photography I want to just spend a day going to cute places to eat around Kansas City with my friends. I will make sure the restaurants I go to have good backgrounds and tables to make the picture more appealing to look at. As for portraits, I want to get together with my friends and just take pictures of them. I want the pictures to turn out good enough for them to post on their social medias.
professional Projects I want to do
The two professional projects i want to do are 3d psa and the pixelstick. to me the pixelstick seems so interesting and cool. i dont know if i want to use my own pictures for the pixelstick or just use the presets, i think the presets would make a simple yet intriguing picture. Also with the 3d psa it is a very cool idea in my opinion. it helps spread an important message through pictures. I want to do my 3d psa about bullying since it is always a constant issue in the world. im not sure if im going to use real people or dolls everything but i already have the scenes in mind.
professional Projects progress review

for my professional projects i really started to understand how to use photoshop. for a pixelstick photo, the light design was grey and all my other pixelstick photos contained color so i decided i was going to add a color to the light design. it was a process figuring it out, but once i had, it really helped me. i also had to learn how to make the 3d psa which was a whole other process. overall these two projects really helped me with photoshop.
photoshop review
Over the course of the semester i would say i have grown tremendously in my photoshop skills. at the beginning of the semester i had no idea what i was doing in photoshop. even after i watched videos i still struggled with figuring things out. i could do simple things like add saturation and vibrance, but i really wanted to learn how to do intricate things. now, at the end of the semester i can finally say i am pretty familiar with photoshop. i know how to change to colors of just one thing, blur backgrounds, add filters and such much more. i am really glad this class pushed me to learn how to use photoshop because i think it is useful for taking pictures which i like to do.
